Three steps from Microsoft: The creators of the Xbox Series X on the fingers explained the Smart Delivery system

In the official blog Xbox wire There was a post with new details of a free upgrade of games for Xbox Series X entitled Smart delivery.

Previously, Microsoft has already explained the essence of this program: when you purchase a game for Xbox One that supports Smart Delivery, the user will receive a free version for Series X when it becomes available. Now the company has made a number of refinements:

  • If the game is purchased in a “digital” format, Smart Delivery will automatically download the best version to the Xbox Series X — no further action is required from the user. The same goes for drives.
  • Smart Delivery will also work with the Xbox Game Pass. For example, you can now start playing Gears 5 by subscribing to Xbox One, and then, when Series X launches, continue to play its optimized version on the new console. All progress will continue (this is also true for purchased games);
  • At the time of the release of the Xbox Series X, not all games in the Smart Delivery catalog will have time to get optimized versions for the new console. Halo: Infinite, for example, will be updated immediately, and Cyberpunk 2077 – only in 2023. In this case, the games will run on Series X in backward compatibility mode, and when the developers release a patch for them, users will automatically receive an improved version at no additional cost.
  • Smart Delivery will work with all games developed by Xbox Game Studios, and with selected projects from third-party companies.

Nand at the moment the list of titles with support for Smart Delivery looks like this. Over time, it will be supplemented by:

  • Halo infinite
  • Destiny 2
  • DiRT 5
  • Scarlet nexus
  • Chorus
  • Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
  • Yakuza: Like a Dragon
  • The ascent
  • Call of the sea
  • Gears 5
  • Second extinction
  • Metal: Hellslinger
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla

Launch Xbox Series X will be held at the end of 2023.
