The number of story-driven projects on the Xbox will increase in the future

Xbox head Phil Spencer stated that the release of single story-oriented games is certainly included in the future plans of the company.

There will be more projects like this in the future than ever before, Spencer said. This decision is dictated by the desire to support risky games, which in turn will be helped by a wide release of demos, streaming through xCloud and early access to Xbox Game Pass

At the same time, Microsoft does not have any clear framework as to what this or that game should be. For example, in the future, the platform may release Psychonauts 3but Spencer won’t go to Tim Shafer, to make him work on the triquel. And the latter is unlikely to want to make a game-service with support for five years or something like that, so it’s even pointless to offer it.

In addition, Spencer added that in the future Microsoft can purchase development studios in territories that are not traditional for the gaming market. He will even be surprised if this does not happen, taking into account the talented authors in all kinds of countries.
