According to Coalition, the Gears of War series has always been at the forefront of Unreal Engine development, and the studio is proud to continue that tradition, using UE5 as the basis for many future projects. At the same time, the authors immediately noted that they would not announce any new titles for some time.as the transition to a new engine takes time and resources, however, this will not affect further support for Gears 5. The team is now recruiting new employees for future developments.

The Coalition is not the first internal Microsoft studio to switch to Unreal Engine 5. The new engine is already in full use. Ninja theory and inXile Entertainment

According to insiders, the team is now busy with the next part. Gears, helps 343 Industries develop shooter Halo: Infinite and prepares the game on a new IP. It was rumored that the latter might be related to “Star Wars“however, senior community manager at The Coalition confirmed in a Reddit email today that the studio is not working on any such title.… So far, they have nothing more to add.
