The game interface in your room: Sony has registered a new interesting patent

Company Sony filed documents for registration of a new curious patent – augmented reality glasses, which, as planned, will be able to interestingly display part of the game content, namely user interface elements.

“This is a display that can be worn or fixed on the surface, allowing you to display content in augmented reality. The main function of the device is the visualization of certain user interface elements from a running game or broadcast, for example, a map, any timer, speedometer, inventory window and others contextual elements tied to a specific application, “- says the description of the patent.

According to the presented schemes, the technology will have certain controls, and the user will be able to adjust the display and the location of certain objects in space, thanks to the manipulations on the case of the glasses themselves or the display.

Mention is also made of the camera on the inside of the device, carefully reading the position of the user’s eyes and directing this information back to the console on which the game is running. Thanks to this, for example, you can theoretically direct an in-game scope exclusively by focusing your gaze.

As with other similar patents, it is important to understand that registration of any idea does not guarantee that it will survive to a commercial release or even a working prototype.

As is well known now Sony actively invests in VR helmet technology. It is possible that ideas with augmented reality glasses will find some reflection in the new headset Playstation VR.
