Super Mario Galaxy References and 300-Person Team: Ubisoft talks about Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope for Switch

Tactical strategy development team Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hopeprepared by the French publishing house Ubisoft to release exclusively on console Nintendo Switch, employs approximately 300 specialists. For comparison, over Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, the first game about “tactical“rabbits, employed about 100 people.

On the significant expansion of the team in an interview with the Italian edition Multiplayer.it told the game designer Davide Soliani and producer Christina Navaleading the production of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.

In addition, the authors of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope also revealed some interesting details about the upcoming project. So, unlike the first part, Sparks of Hope should offer much more freedom – both in terms of the overall game progression and the point setting of your team. For example, now players can freely equip their party with a variety of combinations of heroes – you can assemble a squad consisting entirely of rabbits, or be limited to only one Mario and his friends from the mushroom kingdom.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope should also feature multiple references to a wide variety of games featuring Mario, including the cult Super mario galaxy, which is dictated by the space setting of the upcoming tactical hit.

“This is not just a sequel to Battle for the Kingdom – a much more ambitious game awaits you,” Soliani explained.

The game world in Sparks of Hope will be less linear, and players will have more freedom to control characters and the camera. The developers were also able to implement various new mechanics.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope will release worldwide in 2023… The game will receive massive post-release support.

The first installment of the multi-award winning series was played by 7.5 million people as of June 2023. Read our review here
