Suffering from lack of exclusives: Xbox Series X disappoints Forbes author

Business publication author Forbes Matt Gardner named Xbox series x biggest gaming disappointment of 2023. He explained that the console did not give any new sensations and was noted by the complete absence of new exclusives at the start. It seemed to him “just a more powerful Xbox One X”, but that’s not enough.

“Games are sharper and faster, but what else does Series X have to offer? Where are the breakout features?” He wrote, referring to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion, which are crossgen releases.

One of the most touted Microsoft innovations, Quick Resume, Gardner called really great, but the problem is that the function of instant switching between games now works with brakes and errors. He also stated that the new Xbox controller is almost indistinguishable from the old one (but does not allow the use of old docking stations for recharging), while Sony has DualSense, which everyone praises.

The main problem, however, is related to games. Microsoft moved Halo infinite for an indefinite period, and does not promise to release anything from his studios in the near future. For Sony, the situation is different – there are exclusives right at the start, and one of the projects received more than 90 points on Metacritic. For 2023, Sony is also promising a powerful lineup of blockbusters, including the sequels to God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn.

At the same time, the author of the material admits that he may have had too high expectations. He also does not exclude that the PlayStation 5 could also cause disappointed feelings among some of the audience, but personally, Xbox Series X did not give him any new emotions, which is a verdict in his eyes.

Now Gardner is over 30 years old, he calls himself a gamer with a very long experience and says that new emotions are the main thing at the main stage.

“While this is a sheer disappointment. Not a single spark at the start, nothing explosive on the horizon,” – stated Gardner.

However, it’s worth noting that the Xbox Series X is in high demand around the world. Microsoft is running out of time to ship new consoles. Spencer predicts a deficit until April 2023.
