Students of the Higher School of Economics launched an unusual project – a server Minecraft, where the virtual building of the university on Pokrovka was recreated. About two hundred people took part in the creation of the server, and building plans and a mobile application were applied “Tower. Navigation”. At the opening, there was an exhibition of memes, a musical performance and lectures.
The goal of the project is to enable students to study remotely. In addition, on the server you can just walk around Pokrovka, play mini-games and take part in battles with swords or bows.
“Thanks to the virtual copy of the university, the boundaries between students disappear. Now it will be possible to meet and communicate in the HSE always, regardless of the time, location and epidemiological situation in the world. In addition to the communication and entertainment functions, the Minecraft Tower will be a great venue for events. ”
To connect to the server (hse.serv.gs) Minecraft is required not lower than version 1.12.2, addition Forge and fashion. Instructions from the official website:
How to join the construction of your favorite university or look at our results?
1. The first thing you need to do is download Minecraft version 1.12.2 itself from Forge
2. Download and install the following mods
3. We come up with a cool nickname (for example, Xx_Lord_xX) and go into the game
4. As soon as Minecraft starts up, you need to click on “Network Game”, then on “Add”. In the field “Server address” you need to write the server ip – hse.serv.gs. Then click “Finish”
5. After that, the server you need should appear in the list of servers
6. Register now. What and how to do it will be written in the chat (located at the bottom left)
7. Once you register, you will find yourself in a beautiful hub where you can choose between one of the portals – Pokrovka, PvP, Survival Mode
