Steam statistics: Cyberpunk 2077 lost 97% of players and approached the level of 6-year-old The Witcher 3

On release on December 10th Cyberpunk 2077 set several records at once in Steam… The launch of the game became the largest on the platform of all time, and by the number of active players among singleplayer titles, the new product CD Projekt RED more than doubled the previous achievement of Fallout 4, having managed to attract from above 1 million simultaneously playing against 472 thousand from the Bethesda project.

Despite the unprecedented starting performance, two months after the premiere, the project can no longer boast of the previous figures – at the moment Cyberpunk 2077 has lost over 97% of players

According to official Steam statistics, on February 16, the daily peak online in Cyberpunk 2077 was fixed at 29 thousand, and on average, the last two weeks, no more than 35-40 thousand person. For comparison, the exact same numbers are now shown The Witcher 3: Wild Huntpublished six years ago. However, if for “Cyberpunk” this is a fall, then “The Witcher”, on the contrary, has been demonstrating an influx of players in recent days against the background of a recent sale on Steam. On the occasion of the Chinese New Year, it was possible to buy the hit RPG for as little as 239 rubles instead of 1199 rubles, which attracted many new players.

However, it is too early to give up on Cyberpunk 2077. The churn of players, even this large, is quite common for single titles, and the release of future updates and DLCs currently being worked on at CDPR will surely bring some of the audience back into the game
