Soyuzmultfilm wants to take away the rights to Cheburashka and Crocodile Gena from Japan

A new cartoon about Crocodile Gena and Cheburashka from the japanese like Soyuzmultfilm decided to take back the rights to the character image back.

Character License Agreement Eduard Uspensky with a company SP International was concluded in 2003. From then on, a new animated series and a feature film were released. And just the other day there was another short project created using 3D technology.

The rights should have been relevant until 2023, however, according to the representative of Soyuzmultfilm, the two sides had disagreements. The domestic company considers the contract invalid. However, since it was concluded in Japan, then, according to the law, proceedings must take place in the land of the rising sun.

This will require financial costs, and therefore the representatives of the studio are considering bringing this issue to the state level. One way or another, but Soyuzmultfilm intends to tackle the issue of returning rights.

A fresh cartoon about heroes was removed from the original channel, but users managed to save it, and therefore it still remained online.
