Smart switches, lamps, sockets and kettles: We test the smart home system using the example of devices from HIPER

The direction of “smart home” is constantly evolving, offering users more and more smart devices that can work in conjunction with a voice assistant, forming a common infrastructure. We received a set of smart switches, a socket, a kettle and a set of lamps from the company HIPER, which were tested in conjunction with a smart speaker based on Alice’s assistant. Each component must be activated through the official application in order for it to become part of a single smart home structure.

HIPER has sent us single and double switches that fit in place of conventional light switches and have a standard wiring system: two inputs and ground (0).

Once connected to the network, you can use these switches in standard manual mode, like mechanical ones, or control the light using a voice assistant or an app on your mobile phone.

In the single version of the switch, the clicker is not tactile enough. It seems that the button is not pressed all the way. In the double version, pressing is generally touch-sensitive – without a mechanical response. This creates some addiction problems.

At the same time, the voice assistant normally copes with light control – the delay from the command to turning the light on or off is about 2-3 seconds.

In the official application, you can select various scenarios of work, which is quite convenient if you plan to set the time intervals for turning off the light. After installation, the application itself is easily interfaced with the smart speaker and connects all activated devices automatically.

The HIPER kettle is probably the most visual and useful device from the smart home functionality. We got the liter version, which can be launched both in manual mode and through the application and the voice assistant. The app includes a temperature set for different types of teas. If you want to brew oolong tea, you will need one temperature, while water for baby food will require completely different degrees. The application offers to choose any of the presets and get the desired option.

The voice assistant can also set the kettle to the desired temperature, and the time interval between the command and the start of the script is about 2-3 seconds. In general, controlling the kettle with your voice is incredibly convenient, and this is one of the most useful smart solutions. With a price tag of around 3,000 rubles and an incredible heating rate, this is the most gorgeous device if you have a smart voice assistant in your home.

The adapter included in the kit is a smart socket, like all analogs, it works in on or off mode. Suitable for operating a regular iron, which can be turned on and put on or off. This can be done, again, both in the application and through the voice assistant. Time, as in other cases, is 2-3 seconds.

And finally, light bulbs. HIPER has sent us a lineup from the most basic to RGB. The latter are a real fantasy for fans of vivid impressions.

In addition to the usual functionality, such as brightness modes for evening, work and leisure, RGB lamps offer to change the color gamut and turn your ordinary lamp into a disco. You can shine bright blue, change it to yellow or green, and many shades. Moreover, there is a special regime for eye relaxation.

The voice assistant perfectly works out all these scenarios, the delay between the command and the work is already mentioned above 2-3 seconds.

Conventional lamps are a little more boring, but dimmable is a pretty strong advantage. In one of the rooms, however, I encountered flickering lighting, but perhaps the problem is in the old lamp, since in other rooms such problems did not arise.

Summing up, I would like to note that smart home technologies are expanding by leaps and bounds. Smart mixers, stoves and refrigerators are already emerging that can live in a single ecosystem, and by downloading a recipe from a voice assistant, you will get the desired oven preheat or the correct whipped cream. This is a matter for the next 2-3 years. But already now, if you have a smart voice assistant, you can afford a smart kettle and RGB lamps that will make your life more convenient and brighter.
