Samsung unveils 200-megapixel camera sensor for smartphones

Company Samsung introduced image sensor ISOCELL HP1, which is capable of working with a resolution of 16 384 by 12 288 pixels.

The sensor is equipped with ChameleonCell’s proprietary dynamic pixel binning technology, designed for shooting in low light. The function allows you to build an image of several 0.64 micron pixels, reducing the resolution to 50 or 12.5 megapixels. In the first case, the pixel size increases to 1.28, in the second – to 2.65 microns.

The new sensor also supports 8K video recording at 30fps, or 4K video at 120fps.

In addition, Samsung has unveiled the first 50MP 1.0μm sensor called ISOCELL GN5. The presented sensors are expected to debut in Xiaomi smartphones.
