Samsung develops 512GB DDR5 memory module

At the conference HotChips 33 company Samsung introduced the world’s first memory module DDR5 on 512 GB… It operates at 7200 MHz at 1.1 V.

The South Korean manufacturer’s solution outperforms DDR4 in four main areas: performance, speed, capacity and current consumption. There is an overall increase in performance by 40%, an increase in the speed of work by 2.2 times, an increase in memory capacity by half and a decrease in voltage by 8%.

It is reported that similar modules are designed for data centers. Samsung is not going to stop there. The company plans to release terabyte capacity modules for next generation servers and wants to make DDR5 the main standard by 2023-2024.
