Russian film networks removed “Fast and Furious 9” from rental due to conflict with Universal – Igromania

Three Russian cinema networks were removed “Fast and Furious 9” from the schedule after two weeks of distribution – the reason was a conflict with Universal Pictures International.
The problems started back last May when “KARO”, “Kinomax” and the interconnected network “Cinema Park” and “Formula Kino” could not agree on the terms of rental with Universal.

After two weeks, the distributor’s share of the box office declined from 50% to 40-45%, but Universal planned to take half of the proceeds from the third weekend. These changes began to take place after UPI became a theatrical partner. Warner Bros. in Russia and took up the distribution of their films on the local territory.

But the chains opposed such a decision with the proceeds and removed the “Fast and the Furious 9” from the box office. Previously, the same happened with Godzilla vs. Kong and Mortal Kombat. Then it was assumed that a similar fate would befall a new part of the history of Dominic Torretto – and it happened.

How the situation will be decided further is not clear. Since then, “Fast and the Furious 9” has managed to collect almost a billion rubles in Russia, so the studio is unlikely to be happy about such a decision. At the same time, it recently became known that the film’s box office in China fell significantly amid the scandal with John Cena

After June 2, there are no sessions in different cities
