Testing Logitech’s Pro X Superlight Professional Super Light Mouse.
Recently came into our hands Logitech Pro X Superlight – a mouse for thirteen thousand rubles. More precisely, how we got there, we bought it ourselves, used it for a whole month, and we definitely have something to share. Let’s start with the answer to the main question: “why is it so expensive?”, Because a mouse for thirteen thousand is crazy! Or is it not?
Market
Pro X Superlight is an ideological continuation of the model Pro Wirelessthat exploded the wireless peripherals market in 2018. At the time of its release, it was one of, and possibly the most advanced mouse in the world: with a delay at or below wired models, with a reinforced concrete stable wireless connection, the most capacious battery, and most importantly, it had a record low weight. Only 80 grams.
Superlight is all the same, but the weight is at the forefront – it’s already 60 grams. But although the weight has decreased, the price, on the contrary, has grown, and if the “last day” in the person of PRO Wireless can now be purchased for a little over nine thousand, then the Superlight will cost thirteen. At the same time, the mouse lost its backlight, additional side buttons on the right side and a quick change button DPI on the abdomen. That is, we are forced to pay more for less. Why is that? Let’s take a close look at the market and try to answer this question.
To do this, let’s see what other devices we can purchase with the same characteristics. The answer is none. These will be either wired models, or wireless, but with holes in the case, which not everyone likes, or mice that weigh much more, or it will be Glorious starlight-12 zeus… Yes, it is even lighter than Superlight, but again we get a honeycomb simulator instead of the usual look of the periphery, and in addition, the price tag is even higher. The model is made of magnesium, which is not so cheap to manufacture.
Thus, it turns out that Superlight is almost out of competition, but does it justify such a high price tag?
Build quality
Assembly and durability are definitely worth all the money. When you take a mouse that weighs nothing in your hand, you press on it, squeeze it, but it does not creak. The fit of the parts is perfect, and if you compare it with the popular mice among lightweight devices from Xtrfy, the latter cannot boast of such monumentality. The case no, no, and it creaks somewhere, you don’t even need to make any special efforts.
The next thing that we will write down in the indisputable advantages is the accuracy of pressing the buttons. It always turns out to be clear, with excellent tactile feedback and an instant return to the original. Moreover, what is on the main left and right buttons, what is on the side, what is on the wheel. Plus, Logitech’s two main clicks have a record-breaking speed. Faster only at Razer with its optical switches. In the case of Logitech, it’s hard to say. what exactly is this speed connected with, since under the hood there are traditional, mechanical Omron…
We compared how fast the buttons work between the Logitech Superlight and one of the best wired models – Xtrfy M4 – in Quake Champions… The latter was always slower: you are standing, the sight is aimed at the point from which the opponent should appear, he comes out, you press the button, and the mouse does not keep up with you. As a result, the shot flies where the model was a few milliseconds ago, and in such a dynamic game as Quake, this is enough for everything to go awry. You are “rashat” and you die.
The bottom of the mouse is also designed at a qualitatively new level. Legs are now not five, as was the Pro Wireless, with different shapes and sizes, but only three: a huge one on top, a smaller one at the bottom and one more near the hole for the sensor optics. That is, the sliding area is also larger, and it is easier to change in the future. Also, from the bottom of the mouse, you can generally make one continuous slippery surface. We open the box from the device, remove the drain plug for the compartment in which the system elements are hidden PowerPlay (needed to charge the mouse wirelessly while playing from a Logitech branded mat) and change to an alternative one, which is all pasted over with Teflon.
I also liked the fact that the gloss disappeared from the bottom of the mouse, which used to turn into a scratched mess from movement on the rugs on the PRO Wireless. Now all that remains is the neat edging around the edge. Also very handy were the stickers on the case, which the manufacturer put in the kit with the Superlight. The mouse’s coating is not slippery, at least in our white color, but those stickers will obviously not interfere with the owners of very sweaty palms. They are very well rubberized and cover all the main parts of the mouse body that your fingers can grasp. That is, the sides and main buttons. A trifle, but nice. But these are all pluses, but what about minuses? They are, although we would write them down rather in nuances.
Features and sensor
Gone is the DPI toggle button and it’s inconvenient. Change the sensitivity with one click here and now it will not work. We’ll have to roll up, run G Hub (proprietary Logitech software) and change DPI there. Yes, you can also write a macro for this case, but it’s still not as practical as turning the mouse over and clicking on the button.
The backlight is all too. The diode was thrown out of the mouse, and the company logo on the back no longer glows. In our opinion, this is not essential, since the palm rests on the back of the mouse anyway, and the backlight is not visible in real use. Well, and probably the most important thing to look out for is the lack of additional side buttons on the right side of the Superlight.
The original Pro Wireless was a truly symmetrical mouse that could be used by both left-handers and right-handers. She had side buttons on both sides. If they were not needed, they could be removed without any problems and a plug was installed, which was fastened in place using powerful magnets. Convenient and simple. Now there is none of this: we have only two non-removable buttons on the left. On the right is a solid body and nothing more. By the way, this did not affect the grip, there are no changes in this part, but in fact the mouse turned into a model for the right hand. Although, if you are left-handed and you are not embarrassed by the lack of side buttons, then even though it’s a stretch, you can still consider the Superlight as a contender for a purchase.
Well, one more little touch. A row of LEDs on the back of the mouse has evaporated. There were three of them, now there is one, and, in fact, it simply shows that the mouse has turned on and is working at a certain sensor sensitivity. We are asked to determine it by the color that the diode glows at the moment the device turns on or wakes up from sleep mode.
In short, from Superlight, if we compare it with the previous PRO Wireless, we tried to shake out everything that you can do without in order to make it as easy as possible.
Was the game worth the candle? Yes, definitely. Although the manufacturer claims a difference of only 20 grams, in reality it feels like the mouse is almost two times lighter, and this is a real thrill.
In the game, it seems that there is nothing at all at hand, and only the palm moves on the mat – complete freedom of action. Plus, the weight distribution has improved significantly. The battery has stopped pulling the mouse back, and you can clearly feel it. In general, with Superlight, shooters are more relaxed and precise in their movements. Due to the huge glides and a noticeably lower weight in comparison with the original, it has become much more convenient to flick and track the enemy model. In percentage terms, we will not express the difference in figures, of course, but it is really huge.
As for the sensor, it makes no sense to talk about it. It’s still the same Hero, as in the original model, except that only with an increased maximum DPI. But this is pure marketing. Do you need 25,000 DPI? And we don’t need it. Otherwise, it works just as great as it did before. It is impossible to break it, there is no acceleration, jitter is minimal even at high sensitivity levels.
Cons and disadvantages
And now about the objective cons. I didn’t like the wheel at all. Already out of the box, it crackles, the scrolling steps are weakly expressed, with a very sluggish tactile feedback, and in general the scroll causes distrust.
And that’s alarming, as longevity issues for the Pro Series have plagued Logitech since 2018. Our edition had Pro Wireless, which had a broken left main button after a year of use. Double click appeared. Yes, the manufacturer’s branded service center quickly solved this problem by sending a new mouse for a replacement, but a year later, trouble happened to it: the wheel failed, which scrolled the page up when moving down. So, looking at Superlight and its wheel, it seems that such problems are not far off. Unacceptable in a mouse for that amount.
The cable could have been better. Yes, it was lighter and softer than its predecessor, but for such a lightweight device it is still too noticeable. Obviously, its main purpose is to charge the device every two to three weeks for a couple of hours, but what if the mouse is discharged at the most inopportune moment, but you need to play? There are simply no other options, except how to connect it with a wire to a PC, so a much more airy “paracord” would be clearly more appropriate here.
Software
Let’s take a quick look at the software’s capabilities. In this case, it is represented by the G Hub utility – a single platform for all gaming peripherals from Logitech. Everything is rendered very stylishly and neatly. The menus are laid out in a logical and intuitive way. Nice to use.
Of the features: changing the mouse polling speed in the range from 125 to 1000 Hz, changing DPI in the range from 10 to 25 600 in 50 DPI increments, recording macros, including those that allow you to change the sensitivity of the sensor on the fly, and the last – change the functionality of any of the mouse buttons. That is, you can make a left click with the right one, make the side buttons work the other way around, and so on.
conclusions
So what can be said in the end? Is Pro X Superlight worth as much as asked for? Yes, it’s worth it. Obviously, a lot of money has been invested in the development of the device and its polishing, and Logitech adequately evaluates the work of its engineers. This is on the one hand. On the other hand, the device is an undoubted technological leader, objectively unparalleled. Anyway, at the moment.
Except for potential issues with the wheel, which can be resolved with a single call to the Logitech call center, we could not find any other shortcomings. The mouse is really great.
But whether it is worth buying is another question. In our opinion, the word Pro in the name of the model is there for a reason. This is truly a thing made primarily for professional esports players. Without proper preparation and without a certain level of skill in the game, the majority will have to get used to this weight for a very, very long time. It’s like riding my daddy all my life “Stork “and then sit on a carbon sports bike. Whether you want it or not, you will have to completely retrain and master new management skills. It’s the same with Superlight. It is a delicate and highly accurate tool for experienced professionals. Expensive and almost uncompromising.
