Team Digital foundry started a detailed study of the technical condition Cyberpunk 2077 for consoles of the outgoing generation.
A full analysis will be published later, but so far the experts have managed to find out that on basic models Playstation 4 long-term construction from CD Projekt RED operates in dynamic resolution between 720p and 900p… Indoors, the frame rate can drop to 25 FPS, while outdoors it often drops to 15 FPS. The draw range is at a low level, and the textures are not loaded on time, which is why the game sometimes “freezes” while moving around Night City without transport.
On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions perform much better. In the first case, the game runs at 60FPS, and in the second, you can choose between performance modes (60 FPS) and increased resolution (30 FPS). Drawdowns do occur, but not the same as on the underlying platforms.
If we talk about console gaming, now the new consoles are the best place to play Cyberpunk 2077. However, the computer version with high settings is at an unattainable level of quality compared to all the others, experts from Digital Foundry state.
Commenting on the situation on Twitter, John Linneman from Digital Foundry added that Cyberpunk 2077 for consoles of the outgoing generation is so bad that it can be compared to disappointing ports of some games for Nintendo Switch…
Linnemann himself believes that Cyberpunk 2077 for older systems was worth noting, but at the same time he is glad that the PC turned out to be the main platform for CD Projekt RED.
