Rumors of a re-release of the cult role-playing game Diablo 2 from company Blizzard go for a long time. Many fans hoped to see the announcement of a revived classic last fall at the annual festival. Blizzcon. However, the whole focus of the developers was switched for the next game in the series – Diablo iv, which, according to the authors, is already largely inspired by the gloomy second part.
But this week there are new rumors about the resurrection of Diablo 2.
It all started with the publication of the French resource ActualGamingwho, referring to his own sources, claims that in production is really a project called Diablo 2 resurrected, and the studio is allegedly responsible for it Vicarious visions, which was previously involved in the creation of the PC version of the shooter Destiny 2. Moreover, the game will be released in the fourth quarter of this year.
Of course, such rumors should be treated with a fair amount of skepticism, but fuel added to the fire and another somewhat strange coincidence. Shortly after a news article about Diablo 2 resurrected in the store catalog Gametop an interesting product line was highlighted – miniature figure of angel tyrael, known to any fan of the series, made in the style of the line Funko pop. In principle, this is not strange, the manufacturer of such toys licenses and produces them in literally hundreds of different brands, but there is an important clarification. Earlier Tyrael already had two variations of his figure, one of them depicted his image from Diablo 3and the second from the MOBA project Heroes of the storm. A new figurine, firstly, based on the visual image of Tyrael from Diablo 2, and secondly, it was directly marked accordingly. Now the page with this product is no longer available.
And if this seemed insufficient to you, then the coming year marks the twentieth birthday of the original Diablo 2, to which a whole mass of users are still steadily returning. Should I expect any announcements from Blizzard – only time will show. Perhaps the company will want to share news in the summer, for which a whole lot of various gaming events are now assigned.
