“Reached the Limit”: The Switch version of Pillars of Eternity will no longer receive updates due to console restrictions

Given the power gap between Switch and Sony and Microsoft consoles, it is sometimes surprising to see what kind of results some developers have achieved when porting games to the Nintendo hybrid system. One such example is a large-scale role-playing game. Pillars of eternity from Obsidian Entertainmenthowever, even with great technical skill, there are still limitations that cannot be overcome.

Publisher Versus evil, responsible for the Switch version of Pillars of Eternity, posted a statement on Twitter saying that the Nintendo version of the game will no longer receive updates. As the company clarified, the developers have reached the limit of what they can do with the Switch, which has limitations in terms of hardware.

Unfortunately, Pillars of Eternity for Switch still has some bugs and technical issues that, apparently, will never be fixed now.

Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition went on sale on Switch in August 2019. The game is also available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
