Qualcomm adds support for a new codec to its chips aptX, which allows you to listen to tracks compressed without loss of quality. According to the manufacturer, in ideal conditions, the technology provides streaming of 16-bit audio at 44.1 kHz over Bluetooth.
Qualcomm made the necessary improvements to support the above values, but this is not the limit. Thanks to the codec, you can play music at 24 bit / 96 kHz. Users need to switch between options manually – the lowest value will be set by default.
Snapdragon processors have native codec support. This means that almost any Android smartphone will follow this standard.
However, a single Qualcomm chipset is not enough to play lossless compressed music. To do this, owners of mobile devices will need compatible hardware. Qualcomm promises that the first aptX Lossless-enabled Bluetooth headphones will arrive later this year.
