PocketBook is preparing a new electronic reader with a color display – review

Most e-readers released in the last two decades are equipped with black and white E Ink displays. But this may change in the near future. Earlier it was reported about plans to enter the Chinese market of two companies that are preparing versions with color displays. Now the same, but on a global scale, is preparing Pocketbook.

The manufacturer claims that it will soon bring to Europe a 6-inch reader with an E Ink Print screen. He is credited with a pixel density of 300 DPI and support for 4096 colors. Of course, this can not be compared with LCD or AMOLED displays, but this is only the beginning.

Note that color screens can come in handy for reading magazines, comics, textbooks, and picture books. PocketBook promises to introduce a new product in the third quarter of this year. The specifications will be revealed closer to the release.

In 2013, it was this company that released Color Lux (801), which was positioned as the first model with a color screen. But then the novelty “did not go” because of the high price and not too impressive characteristics. Perhaps it will work out this time?
