Analytic company Superdata introduced new April reportin which she spoke about international sales of digital games for April 2023. The leaders in the console revenue segment were Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Nintendo’s life simulator has already conquered the world. The game surpassed all forecasts of the platform holder, dispersing around the world with a circulation of 13.4 million copies in just six weeks after the release. But in April, the exclusive Nintendo Switch didn’t even think about slowing down and continues to diverge perfectly in numbers, according to a SuperData report.
According to expert estimates, a total of Nintendo managed to sell 3.6 million digital copies of Animal Crossing: New Horizons last month. (-27% compared to March). No other game in the past month has been able to achieve such an impressive result.
Digital edition of another major release, Final Fantasy VII Remake, amounted to 2.2 million copies. This high rate is partly due to the fact that because of the coronavirus and supply problems, it was difficult for people to get physical copies of the project. April digital sales of the remake became record for both the series and among PlayStation exclusives – previously the leader was the action released about 2018 in Spider-Man.
As for another remake, namely Resident evil 3then Capcom managed to sell 1.3 million copies in April. Last year’s figures were similar Resident evil 2 just a few days after the release.
Impressively delivered in April updated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Given the fact that the game does not have multiplayer, we can safely say that the interest of players in single projects of the series is still extremely high. Activision managed to sell 3.4 million digital copies, and this despite the fact that almost the entire last month (until April 30), the game was available only on PS4. Given the release of the project on Xbox One and PC, most likely, in May, a remaster will also perform very well.
