On PlayStation 5, you cannot quickly switch between several games at once – it was left without an analogue of Quick Resume

Next generation console Playstation 5 did not receive an analog of the function Quick Resume (“Fast Resume”), which allows you to instantly switch between multiple games at once. Xbox series x… The publication informs about this. GameSpot

“Quick Resume is one of the key features of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S touted by Microsoft. This feature allows you to quickly switch between multiple games at once and continue playing exactly where you left off last time – without having to exit each games and re-download them from scratch.

If you were hoping the PlayStation 5 with its solid state drive would get something like this, you’re out of luck. The Sony console has no analogue to Quick Resume, “the article says.

The process of launching games on PlayStation 5 is extremely traditional. If you are playing one game and want to switch to another, you need to exit the current one and load the next one from scratch… And so every time.

“This means that if you play Demon’s Souls and your friends call you in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, you need to find a save point, save so you don’t lose your progress, then exit the game and turn on the next one.”

On the plus side, the download speed is much faster than the PlayStation 4 at launching games from scratch.

“But the ability to actually play multiple games at once is not here.”

It is not known if Sony can implement an analogue of Quick Resume in the future, but there will definitely not be such a feature at the start.
