Oculus Quest 2 Sales Suspended Due To Complaints Of Facial Skin Irritation

Last December Facebook reported that approximately 0.01% of Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality headset owners complained of facial irritation. And in April of this year, the company shared the results of the investigation: they did not find any contamination or unexpected substances in the production.

Experts have identified several micronutrients that are commonly found in manufacturing and can contribute to skin discomfort. Although their numbers were below the industry standard, the company changed the process to further reduce their presence.

Facebook encouraged all affected Oculus Quest 2 owners to contact support for a replacement face pad.

The company has now unveiled a new silicone face pad that is available to all Oculus Quest 2 owners around the world and fits over a standard foam pad.

At the same time, Facebook has temporarily suspended sales of the virtual reality headset while it is working to include silicone pads in the kit with all devices. Starting August 24, all Oculus Quest 2s will ship with the new overlay.
