NVIDIA Ampere cards will be delayed until the end of the year – review

In view of the situation with coronavirus, news about the cancellation or transfer of certain events and announcements is no longer surprising. However, in the case of video cards NVIDIA Ampere it’s a little different. According to the source, they are also late, but it’s not just a pandemic.

It is claimed that the “green” want to assess the potential of the future GPU AMD Big Navi based on RDNA2 architecture. This chip should become the basis for future Radeon flagships and, of course, this is of interest to NVIDIA.

At the moment, it is difficult to say exactly when the “big Navi” and maps based on it will be shown. It is even more difficult to predict even approximate performance, although it is possible that this will be the level RTX 2080 Super or even higher.

In any case, the confrontation between the two graphic giants will be large-scale. And recent improvements to the Vulkan API should smooth out the differences in ray tracing as well. After all, the developers claim that the new software components will allow to implement raytracing in any games and on any cards without any problems.
