Nintendo Sues Switch Cracker Gary Bowser – review Addiction

American division Nintendo filed a lawsuit against Gary Bowser, the alleged leader of the hacker group Team Xecuter. As noted PolygonBowser and another Team Xecuter member were arrested and charged with 11 felonies in 2023.

According to the lawsuit, Bowser has been making and selling jailbreak devices for Nintendo consoles since at least 2013, when he distributed the 3DS jailbreak device. Recently, a hacker has been selling a jailbreak device, Switch, which allows pirated copies of games to be run on the console.

Nintendo previously described Switch hacking and piracy as a serious, growing international problem. In a new lawsuit, the company says Bowser devices continue to put more than 79 million Switch and Switch Lite consoles at risk of piracy.

Nintendo intends to collect damages from Bowser in the amount of $ 2,500 for each device for jailbreaking the console and $ 150,000 for copyright infringement. The company also demands to permanently close the production of devices.
