Nintendo reassured fans: Bayonetta 3 is alive, everything is fine with the development

Since the announcement Bayonetta 3 three and a half years had passed, but the game was never shown after that. At the last Nintendo Direct, the project was also kept silent.

So what happened? GameSpot’s senior product marketing manager has this question Nintendo of America to Bill Trainen and senior director of localization Nate Bildorf

“It definitely still exists, I can confirm it,” Bildorf replied.

“I will go even further and say that he is not only alive, but also developing well,” added Trainen. “We like to show things when we’re ready to show them, and of course we like to show things when the developers are ready to show them. So we didn’t have Bayonetta 3 at E3, but stay tuned.”

The third part of Bayonetta was first announced as a short teaser at The Game Awards in December 2017. In an interview this January, project manager Hideki Kamiya said he hoped to provide much-anticipated information about him in the coming months.

Earlier, in 2019, answering the question of whether the prolonged silence around Bayonetta 3 is an indicator of grandiose ambitions Platinum Games regarding the game, head of the studio Atsushi Inaba told VGC that it will be a title of the highest quality, in which the team is putting all their efforts.

In addition to Bayonetta 3, Kamiya is currently busy with the creation of another project – an action game. Project G.G. about a superhero who can grow in size to fight giant monsters. The project is described as the culmination of Kamia’s unofficial superhero trilogy, which includes Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101. The game was unveiled in early 2023 and hasn’t been shown since.
