New PlayStation 5 Update Reduces Disc Check Noise in Drive

Members Playstation 5 continue to see improvements in console performance since yesterday’s release of the first major firmware update.

Besides fixed compatibility with TVs Samsung, the new software version has optimized the PS5 Blu-ray drive

Soon after the release of the console, the owners began to notice that the system spins discs in the console in a strange way at different time intervals, and quite loudly, and even in those cases when the game medium is not used. Now, according to reports from a number of users on Reddit and ResetEra, Sony has partially fixed the problem. The periodic check of the disk is still performed, but the drive has become much quieter

“I can confirm that Sony has finally solved this stupid problem. A new system update from April 14th fixed the problem. The console is still checking the disk, but it is very quiet.”

“Yeah, those checks definitely seem quieter. The game installation is still pretty darn loud, but the license check or whatever it is is now much quieter.”

“I turned on my PS5 after the update and started Ghost of Tsushima with the Miles Morales disc in the drive. The readout was only heard during console startup, but then no noise for over an hour. I was working so I might have missed something, but if the drive was as loud as before the update, I should definitely hear it. “
