In an interview Digital spy Neil Gaiman revealed that the action of the first season of his adaptation “Sandman” from Netflix will unfold in modern times – that is, in 2023.

The filming of the project was supposed to start at the end of May, but this was prevented by the coronavirus pandemic, due to which production was paused. During this time, an audio adaptation of the original story even managed to come out, where the main character Morpheus was voiced James McAvoy

Gaiman added that in the series Morpheus, who is captivated at the very beginning of the story, was imprisoned not 70, but as many as 105. In addition, Gaiman again hinted opaquely that in this version of the adaptation, various aspects could change, in particular, the gender of some characters. And some lines from the comic will be expanded.

The project itself, apparently, will be released in the same 2023.
