Minecraft Reporters Without Borders opens library – review

As part of World Cyber Censorship Day, celebrated on March 12, in Minecraft an online library will open. It contains articles by journalists from five countries that are at the end of the press freedom rating.

Materials from Russia, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Vietnam and Egypt are available there – in separate sections for each country. The texts are placed in the original, as well as in translation into English. There are 200 books in the library.

The library itself was built by 24 people from 16 countries. The creation of the island and the building required 12.5 million blocks. The card with the online library itself is already available for download. In addition, a copy of it is available on a special server at visit.uncensoredlibrary.com.

The authors suggest that thanks to Minecraft they will be able to show people the value of freedom of speech and the press. At the same time, we note that this is not the only such initiative. Earlier, journalists turned their articles into songs and published them on Spotify and other music services.
