Media: Sony canceled the development of Resistance 4 due to the similarity with The Last of Us

The third installment of the Resistance shooter series was released almost 10 years ago, and while some may have forgotten that such a franchise once existed, some fans still hope to see a continuation of the story of aliens invading Earth. Moreover, new information indicates that some time ago Insomniac Games still planned to do Resistance 4

During the last episode of the Sacred Symbols podcast, former IGN editor Colin Moriarty, said that the project of the fourth Resistance was in development at the end of the life cycle Playstation 3, but was rejected due to Sony’s concerns about an overabundance of post-apocalyptic games then in development or pre-production.

It’s about Killzone: Shadow Fall, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Days Gone and The Last of Us. In addition, according to the journalist, the Resistance 4 concept sounded too much like The Last of Us, with the result that Sony decided to close the project, so as not to push games together and not overwork gamers with two similar titles.

It is currently unknown if Insomniac will ever return to the Resistanse series. In recent years, the studio has only developed two franchises: Spider-man and Ratchet & Clank
