Media: Long-term WiLD for PlayStation 4 canceled

Announced in 2014 for Playstation 4 exclusive WiLD canceled after years of public silence around the project. This was reported by a journalist Jeff Grubb on the air podkasat GrubbSnax.

“I can confirm that the game is finally closed. Wild is no more … Wild is dead.

I think Michel Ansel abandoned the project … he didn’t work on it anymore and was closed. The people who were in charge of the game considered trying to keep the team and take on other projects.

I don’t know what happened there, but they said, “We are not working on WiLD anymore, but we have a lot of talent here, so maybe we can work on something else.”

WiLD was announced at a press conference Sony within the framework Gamescom 2014… The trailer shown during the presentation showed a prehistoric, procedurally generated world in which players would have to control a shaman with the ability to inhabit and control animals in order to fight other tribes and solve puzzles. The game was supposed to be the debut release of an independent studio Wild sheep studiofounded Michel Ancel (Ryman, Beyond Good & Evil).

Since then, the project was shown once again only once at Paris Games Week in 2015. After that, the developers went into deaf radio silence, occasionally uploading art, and in 2023 Michel Ansel announced his retirement from the gaming industry. Then, however, it was reported that with the development of WiLD all is well.

Judging by the Wild Sheep Studio page on LinkedIn, now the studio has about 50 employees, while the team continues to recruit staff. New vacancies were opened a month ago.

Besides WiLD, Ansel also led the development of Beyond Good & Evil 2, about which, too, has not been heard for a long time.
