Edition Variety today reported that the company Sega is working on the release of a film adaptation of his famous game franchise Yakuza… The project will be produced by 1212 Entertainment and Wild Sheep Content. The search for screenwriters is currently underway.

Yakuza is the best-selling series of games from the Sega company after Sonic The Hedgehog. The first part appeared on the PlayStation 2 console in 2005. Now Yakuza is a global franchise with seven additional numbered sequels and eight spin-offs.

Most of the games in the series tell about the former Japanese criminal Kazuma Kiryu, who was forced to return to the world of the yakuza, where lawlessness reigns. The series has received wide recognition due to the plot component and the characters presented in it. Players are offered to plunge into a unique setting of famous urban areas of Japan and get acquainted with the artistic images of real yakuza, their stories, code of ethics, criminal activity and unique features.

The next part of the series, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, will be released on November 13 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. On the next generation consoles Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, the game will be released with their launch on November 10. For PS5, the release of the project has not yet been dated.
