“It’s funny that they take me like that”: Tim Sweeney spoke about the haters and the growing popularity of the Epic Games Store

For a year and a half of work, the store Epic Games Store managed to gain a foothold in the market for the sale of PC games. About this in an interview with the publication Gamespot told the head Epic Games Tim Sweeney. Especially the new site was helped by an initiative with free distribution of games, attracting millions of gamers every week. As a result, the number of those who remain with the Epic Games Store is growing steadily.

“We understood that we needed an aggressive strategy, so we launched free and exclusive games. We realized that many of our decisions would seem debatable to the audience, especially to the hardcore Steam fans who bought hundreds of games there and want to have everything in one place.” – explained Sweeney.

However, the “aggressive” strategy is paying off, and today the Epic Games Store controls 15% of the PC gaming marketaccording to internal company estimates. Growth is expected to continue.

Sweeney noted that Epic Games was able to challenge Steam and was in serious competition with smaller sites. Adversaries who consider him “the number one enemy of PC gamers,” he considers “funny.”

“It’s funny that they perceive me like that. There are enemies all around!”, – concluded the head of Epic Games.

Earlier, Tim Sweeney said that free giveaways of games in the Epic Games Store lead to sales growth, which pleases developers.
