Insider: Ubisoft has worked on a semi-linear Assassin’s Creed in the style of Uncharted about Richard the Lionheart

According to a recent rumor, the company Ubisoft worked on a new Assassin’s creed in style Uncharted… The information was shared by the French blogger J0nathan, who previously noted a number of truthful leaks on Assassin’s Creed. According to him, the project bore a working title Project Richard and was created around the story of the English king Richard the Lionhearthowever, at the time of posting, it is unclear if the project is still in development. The leak suggests that at the very beginning of production, the game’s team, or at least part of it, was transferred to make Project meteorwhich will be the third extension for Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla

According to the whistleblower, Project Richard should have been very different from the latest installments in the Valhalla, Odyssey and Origins series. It would be a partially linear Uncharted-style game with half-open levels set during the Third Crusade (1189-1192)… The story followed Richard’s return to England, but the main characters were not him, but his bodyguard, while the plot of the game assumed the development of two parallel scenarios for a woman and a man, which at some point had to intersect.

As for Project Meteor, the source noted that its development was launched for two main reasons: the positive reception of Valhalla and the desire of Ubisoft to play on the hype around the Vikings, as well as the strong influence of COVID-19, since making DLC in a pandemic is easier than developing a full-fledged game.

On release dates, J0nathan gave the following information: second major expansion “Siege of paris“for Valhalla, it should be released in September 2023, and Project Meteor will not appear until at least January 2023. The new game, according to the most optimistic forecast, will not be released until the end of 2023.
