VR-technologies, despite all the tricks, are just starting their way in games. But they may have another use. Last week, Korean television broadcast a special program called “I Met You.” She was dedicated to the seven-year-old girl Nyon, who died of an incurable disease in 2016.
The creators of the program used a VR helmet so that the girl’s mother could see her daughter in virtual reality, as well as touch gloves to simulate touch.
Of course, we are talking about a three-dimensional model, which is modeled on the basis of the girl’s appearance. She is able to move, talk and interact with the virtual environment. It took eight months to develop.
I must say that it looks very realistic and rather creepy. Although so far only a ten-minute video has been published, which shows some stages of preparation, as well as technical aspects. It is possible that in the future such a technology will find commercial application in psychotherapy and medicine.
