“I want her to grab me”: Capcom didn’t expect such a reaction to Lady Dimitrescu of Resident Evil Village

When creating a lady who conquered the world Alsina Dimitrescu from horror Resident evil village developers from Capcom were inspired Morticia Addams – the heroine of the cult franchise “The Addams Family“. An interesting fact was shared by the art director of the upcoming horror Tomonori Takano

According to Takano, the developers came to the idea with a vampire theme quite quickly, but it was important for them not to fall into the trap of the usual artistic images and create something with a unique identity

“At the early stages of production, we came to the decision to implement a castle with a vampire aesthetics in the project. But it was important for us not to restrain ourselves from how the bloodsucker is portrayed in other popular works of art.”

Besides Morticia Addams, the developers were also inspired by the story of the Hungarian countess and assassin Elizabeth Bathoryas well as a fictional Japanese image Hasshaku-sama – a tall woman in a white dress with a tragic fate.

At the same time, Capcom admits that it did not expect to see numerous messages in the open spaces of the network in the spirit of “I will not run away from her” or “I want her to catch up and grab me.”

On the other hand, the developers are very grateful for the audience’s attention. To create such a striking image is a great success for designers.
