Huawei is preparing a replacement for TCP / IP – review

As reported Financial timesChinese technology giant Huawei Together with state-owned providers, China introduced the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) a new protocol for the Internet. It is called New IP and provides a number of improvements over TCP / IP. But there are also problems.

It is reported that the novelty will allow for automatic control of cars and will ensure the operation of the “Internet of things”. Due to more efficient addressing and an improved connection management system, it will increase the data transfer speed.

However, this will also make it possible to remotely block and disconnect network segments, which will increase censorship. In addition, the authentication mechanism allows you to associate a network address with a specific user. And that could be a blow to privacy.

Huawei itself claims that the protocol will be completely open to specialists around the world. At the moment, the protocol is being considered by the International Telecommunication Union, the finished implementation will be available for beta testing in 2023.

It is assumed that the decision on implementation can be made in November this year at the ITU conference.
