The game was recognized as the best release of 2023 based on the results of three rounds of voting Ghost of tsushima from the studio Sucker Punch Productions… She got 47% of the votes. In second place was entrenched The Last of Us: Part II from the studio Naughty dog… She scored 32%. Third place went to Hades from Supergiant games (eleven%).
Note that it was Ghost of Tsushima that was in the lead in the first two rounds of voting. However, after the start of the third round, The Last of Us: Part II suddenly took the lead.
Naughty Dog’s newly appointed co-president has heated up the atmosphere Neil Druckmann, who wrote on social networks that with every vote for The Last of Us: Part II “haters will lose the ability to use Caps Lock.” Sucker Punch Productions also encouraged players to vote for their creation, but used much more restrained forumings.
As a result, some hackers tried to disrupt the vote by hacking the site and transferring all the votes to Ghost of Tsushima. However, the administrators of TGA 2023 managed to normalize the portal’s work.
Some gamers also complained that when trying to vote for another game (Hades), they were thanked for allegedly supporting The Last of Us: Part II. It was also reported about the mobilization of portal users 4Chanwho decided to support Ghost of Tsushima.
It is also interesting that a barrage of criticism fell on Neil Druckmann on social networks, under the pressure of which he deleted his provocative post and apologized before “haters” and “trolls”. The developer stated that he was supposedly just joking, and not trying to split the gaming community.
“My tweet was meant to be a joke about trolls, but it only added fuel to the fire and gave the impression that I am against criticism. It should be higher than that. So I deleted the post. I’m sorry,” Druckmann wrote.
The Game Awards 2023 will take place on December 11 (Moscow time).
