FromSoftware’s Elden Ring Wins 2023 Gamescom Awards But No Game Shown

Long awaited Elden ring from Japanese studio FromSoftware was named the best game for consoles Playstation within the framework Gamescom Awards 2023 at the opening ceremony Gamescom 2023, but no new frames were shown to the audience. Attention to the unusual situation drew the publication GameSpot

According to the official description of the Gamescom Awards, games presented to journalists at Gamescom are eligible for this year’s awards. If we follow this logic, there is a possibility that we will see Elden Ring in the next days – Gamescom will officially end on August 27th. But in this case, it is not entirely clear why Bandai Namco decided to skip the opening ceremony itself, which is watched by millions of people.

The list of nominees for Gamescom Awards this year is very modest… For example, for the title of the best game for Nintendo Switch only two novelties fought, and both from Ubisoft (won Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, which, like Elden Ring, was not shown at the opening ceremony).

The best game for consoles Xbox recognized Halo infinite (other nominees were Elden Ring and Far Cry 6).
