Forget the USSR: DICE Decides to End the Suffering of Battlefield V Players in Summer

Studio EA DICE announced that post-release support for a long-suffering multiplayer shooter Battlefield v will be minimized in June 2023. This is stated in the official blog of developers.

April 29th concludes the chapter Into the jungle, and in June another major update will be released, which will be the last. However, deadlines may be revised due to problems associated with remote work and the coronavirus pandemic (this has already affected the development of spring patches). Following the release of the final update, DICE intends only to update the weekly events and refine the cheat protection, which still resembles a holey sieve.

“Thank you for joining this adventure,” the statement said.

Thus, the players’ dreams of the appearance of new maps and factions (USSR) in Battlefield V were destroyed.

According to many fans, the number of miscalculations and mistakes of developers exceeded all reasonable limits. You can recall the controversial advertising campaign, the lack of content on the release, the refusal at the last moment to release the 5 on 5 mode (which was wasted about 1.5 years), the release of the not popular mode Firestorm (royal battle), two wars for TTK, as well as the recognition of the Swedish office that they cannot add events with doubled experience due to the “features” of the graphics engine Frostbite (for some reason there was no problem with this in the previous parts of the series). It is also widely believed that support Star Wars: Battlefront 2 turned out to be a cut above that in the case of BFV.

In 2023, clouds were gathering over DICE. The Stockholm office underwent reshuffles; a number of key employees left it. In addition, the studio DICE LA no longer submits to the Swedes, becoming the new patrimony of the co-founder of the studio Respawn Vince Zampella.

The next part of Battlefield is due out in 2023-2022.
