Expect a rise in price: TSMC increased the cost of chips by 20%

The world’s largest chip supplier Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) informed customers about the increase in the cost of products by twenty%

According to media reports, price increases and the timing of the entry into force of new tariffs vary from client to client. Some companies that have received notification from TSMC will be required to purchase the chips at the updated price from today.

As a reminder, TSMC and other Taiwanese companies raised chip prices from autumn to spring. During this period, the cost of products increased by 10%, however, due to high demand, which continues to outstrip supply, TSMC decided to raise the bar again.

The saddest thing is that the increase will affect the cost of the final product. Other manufacturers will follow TSMC, according to Digitimes. The publication mentions Taiwanese PSMC and UMC, American GlobalFoundries and Chinese SMIC.
