Domestic cinemas will open with screenings of “bright films” – no dramas

Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova said that the nearest repertoire of domestic cinemas after opening will primarily consist of “light and simple films.”

At the same time, various “heavy dramas” will be postponed until about the winter of 2023. According to Lyubimova, viewers are already somewhat tired of sitting at home due to the coronavirus pandemic and are not ready for gloomy pictures. From the point of view of the Ministry of Culture, the first viewers of cinemas will be young people who “want simple communication, a date at the cinema”.

At the same time, the producers who will open the domestic distribution with their premieres will receive the support of the ministry. The plan should cover the next 3-6 months.

It is not entirely clear what specific films are being discussed in both the first and second cases. Probably, major blockbusters will not pass by the Russian distribution, as they actively attract viewers in our country.
