Digital Foundry showed footage of Crysis 2 remaster, launched on PlayStation 5

Remasters will be released this fall Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Experts Digital foundry visited the office Crytek, where they were shown footage of the Crysis 2 remaster, launched on PS5 for backward compatibility.

The PS5 remastered version of Crysis 2 is the codebase for the PS4 Pro version that runs on the next-gen console at native resolution of 1440p (up to 60fps). Higher resolution is expected on Xbox Series X.

The development of remasters, as in the case of the first part, is busy Saber InteractiveHowever, this time around, Crytek has deployed more staff to guide development and help better realize the project’s potential.

In addition, unlike the remaster of the first Crysis, when the developers decided to improve the versions for PS3 and Xbox 360, this time they use PC versions of the final parts of the trilogy. They are built on more modern versions CryEnginethat support DX11 features.

The developers got rid of the cyan-orange filter and increased the resolution of the textures, as well as improved the level of detail and lighting with the help of the global lighting system in real time and the so-called “screen-space reflections”.

Also, the authors got rid of the performance modes and support for ray tracing in the console versions in order to concentrate on the right balance between quality and performance in a single mode.

PC players will still be able to enable ray tracing, but the “can it run Crysis?”

Finally, Digital Foundry experts were able to play the remasters of Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 on Switch. On the console Nintendo the authors aim to achieve 30 FPS. At the same time, experts note that they were very impressed with what they saw.

The updated Crysis trilogy can be bought in a compilation or each part separately. Only single player modes will be available in each game.
