Cyberpunk 2077 takes off from the PS Store charts a month after resuming sales

21st of June Cyberpunk 2077 returned to PlayStation Store, topping the digital chart of best-selling PlayStation 4 games for the month.

However, already in July, the result was strikingly different. This week Sony has published lists of popular downloads in the PlayStation Store for July, and the CD Projekt RED project is completely absent from them. Cyberpunk 2077 was not in the top 20 in both the US and Europe, suggesting a sharp drop in game sales since returning to the store.

Digital sales hit PS4 in July Grand theft auto v in North America and FIFA 21 in Europe, while EA’s soccer sim was also the best title in both regions on PS5. Full charts can be viewed here.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been unavailable on the PlayStation Store since December 17, 2023. The game was removed from the platform almost immediately after the release due to the abundance of technical problems, especially on the consoles of the previous generation.

Earlier this month, President and CEO Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan for the first time commented on the situation with the removal of Cyberpunk 2077 from the PS Store, explaining that despite the difficulties of the decision, the company acted in the interests of the PlayStation community and did not intend to sell a game that could negatively affect their experience.

At the moment, Cyberpunk 2077 has already received several patches. While not all issues have been fixed, CDPR considers the current state of the game to be satisfactory. In parallel, an update is being prepared with improvements for the Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5.
