“Come with mine if you want to live”: in the manga “Attack of the Titans” they found a reference to Cameron’s “Terminator”

In manga “Attack of the Titans” every now and then easter eggs slip. Only recently have the authors revealed Titan, whose identity can be based on a lawyer Sol Goodman from series “Breaking Bad” and “Better call Saul”, as fans immediately discovered a new reference.

Next will be the spoilers of the 128th chapter of the Attack of the Titans. We will try to minimize them, but without disclosing the plot in any way.

During the rescue of Azumbito Isayama, a phrase pops up in the manga that recalls the cult science fiction film by James Cameron – “Terminator”. When Hange, Mikasa, Jin, and Theo Magat arrive to take Azumbito to a safe place, Magat orders them to go down to the basement. However, he shouts to his doubting leader Kyoto: “Come with me if you want to live !!”.

This infinitely cited phrase was first used by John Connor in The Terminator when he was saving Sarah Connor from the rogue killer, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Then she voiced in Terminator 2: Doomsday. Although Attack on the Titans and Terminator have very little in common, it’s interesting that this phrase is used both in Hajima Isayama’s manga and in Cameron’s film with characters who side with the good guys. In both cases, they also appeal to women, who play a key role in changing the worst future.
