Clouds or death: Microsoft requires indie developers to agree to support xCloud streaming service?

Management of the gaming division of the corporation Microsoft ostensibly requires indie developers to agree to support the streaming cloud service xCloud… This is stated in the documentation Epic Gamespresented during the company’s trial Tim Sweeney vs Apple

As noted in the Epic Games documents, Microsoft’s language towards independent game studios is sufficient. “tough“- the corporation literally issues an ultimatum to potential partners, in fact, demanding either to agree to support xCloud, or to completely leave the Xbox ecosystem

According to Epic Games, Microsoft wants indie games published on the Xbox to be able to stream to smartphones and other devices via xCloud by default without additional contracts. By refusing, developers risk flying out of the Xbox store and thereby losing a market with tens of millions of users.

It is noteworthy that such conditions on the part of Microsoft also puzzled the Epic Games management – some partners of Tim Sweeney’s company are worried that the agreement with the American giant may legally contradict the previously concluded exclusivity agreements with the Epic Games Store.

Microsoft itself did not comment on such information. It is unknown if Xbox is giving an ultimatum to everyone or if the rule is being selectively applied.
