Bonuses to everyone: CD Projekt RED executives revise salary policy after bumpy launch of Cyberpunk 2077

After launching the RPG adventure game Cyberpunk 2077 leadership CD Projekt RED revised the system for issuing bonuses to its employees. The editor shared information about internal changes in the work of the Polish studio Bloomberg Jason Schreier

Usually the premium system in CD Projekt RED was associated with the indicators of the project being created, respectively, the employees had extra motivation to give all their best. In case of Cyberpunk 2077 the opportunity to receive bonus payments also depended on the assessment of the game on review aggregators, however, in light of the difficult launch, the company’s management decided to abandon this practice

“Previously, we had a bonus system that depended on the ratings of the game, as well as adherence to the planned release date. But after careful analysis, we came to the conclusion that this approach is far from fair, especially given the current circumstances. We somewhat underestimated the scale and complexity of all processes that were necessary in order to [Cyberpunk 2077] became a reality, but despite this, you put all your efforts into creating such an ambitious and special game, “explains Adam Badovsky, Cyberpunk 2077 Development Lead, in a corporate letter to the staff of CD Projekt RED.
