Andy Serkis: The new “Batman” will be “darker” than previous films

Andy Serkis hints that the next adaptation of the comic book “Batman“Will be” darker “of its previous incarnations. The British actor, who played the role of butler Bruce Wayne in the film, gave a short interview LADbible.

Filming “Batman” is currently suspended due to the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic, so the film will be released no earlier than the end of next year. But even now, little is known about him. The performer of the role of Alfred Pennyworth told what fans can expect from the picture of Matt Reeves about the superhero.

“Saying that the new Batman is darker and tougher, you are not so far from the truth.”

“The film pays great attention to the emotional connection between Alfred and Bruce,” says the 56-year-old star of The Lord of the Rings. “This is its foundation. Matt wrote a truly exquisite screenplay. ”

Andy sets the example of two great British actors – Michael Gough and Michael Kane – Both of them played Alfred.

“His [Кейна] Alfred was legendary, and the game was fantastic. I’m not even trying to repeat it, really. I will find my own approach. It’s the same as playing Shakespeare’s iconic roles. You come back to them again and again, and you have to do it yourself – to study what kind of character this is and how it is connected with you and your personal Venn diagram. ”

Serkis says that he was “halfway through” when filming was stopped. Now the actor wonders how simple the film will affect the film when they continue.

“But it will be a beautiful film. Well, for example, I can’t wait for them to finish this story. But right now we are left with that few frames that we managed to shoot. ”

The new “Batman” will be released on October 1, 2023.
