AMD Renoir processors appear to be running under load without cooling

As it turned out, recently released processors on the market AMD Ryzen 4000 family Renoir may well do with minimal cooling or even work without it. Enthusiast Fritzitsch Fritz proved it using a quad Ryzen 3 4300U and thermal imager.

His testing showed that the chip not only loads the operating system, but also can withstand at least ten minutes of tests in benchmarks and games.

It is reported that the processor “drove” in Cinebench r15 and 3DMark Time Spy, as well as in the built-in test of the game Crysis. The processor scored 124/327 and 395 points, respectively. For comparison: under normal conditions, the Ryzen 3 4300U in the Cinebench R15 scores 140/550 points.

Although the results were expectedly less than with the installed cooling system, the fact of stable processor operation in this mode and under load is remarkable.

Judging by the shooting from the thermal imager, the Ryzen 3 4300U only has one CCX unit containing four Zen 2 cores. Note that this processor is characterized by a 15 W heat package in the frequency range 2.7–3.7 GHz. He also has built-in graphics. Vega 5.
