After the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X in the UK, they proposed to hit the resellers at the legislative level

A group of British politicians called on the country’s parliament to consider the idea of creating a law that would regulate the activities of dealers who dishonestly gain access to game consoles and computer equipment. The reason for such an initiative was the launch of new generation systems Playstation 5 and Xbox series x, which are bought by unscrupulous users in hundreds and thousands for further resale at an increased cost.

British politicians hope that they will be able to create tools that block the use of bots and programs that allow automating the purchase of equipment on the Internet, due to which ordinary users are deprived of any chance to get their hands on the coveted console or video card.

“New gaming systems or computer parts must be made available to all customers at the recommended retail price. They must not be bought in the hundreds through automated bot systems designed to circumvent distribution restrictions imposed by retailers,” the document submitted for review said.

To date, nine members of parliament have supported the initiative.

According to current data, over the past month, dozens, or even hundreds of thousands of consoles were sold at the sites for dealers with a markup of 25-50 percent of the recommended cost. One of these sites has sold over 60,000 PS5 and Xbox Series X
